Fabric RTI 101: Integrating with Google Cloud Pub-Sub

Google Cloud Pub/Sub is a fully managed event ingestion and messaging system.

It supports large-scale, asynchronous communication between services. It is widely used for event-driven architectures, analytics pipelines, and IoT telemetry.

Integrating with Google Cloud Pub-Sub

In this integration model, Pub/Sub acts as a cross-cloud source for Fabric. Messages published to topics in Google Cloud - such as application logs, telemetry events, or transaction data - can be exported or streamed into Fabric Eventstream for analysis.

Integration can be achieved in a few ways:

  • By using connectors such as Azure Data Factory’s Pub/Sub connector or third-party bridge services that forward messages into Event Hubs or directly into Eventstream. By setting up a custom input in Eventstream that consumes messages from a Pub/Sub subscription endpoint.
  • Through Pub/Sub Lite export jobs that push data to a shared destination, like Azure Blob Storage, where Fabric pipelines can pick it up.

This approach supports hybrid and multi-cloud architectures, where data originates in Google Cloud but analytics, dashboards, and alerting are handled in Fabric.

Because Pub/Sub is a global service, it provides high availability and horizontal scalability, making it suitable for organizations that already use Google Cloud for parts of their infrastructure but want to centralize analytics within Microsoft Fabric.
