About Saranya

Saranya is the Asia product lead, and a principal product manager on the engineering team for Azure Cosmos DB, the database that powers OpenAI’s Chat GPT and similar AI-related workloads.

Saranya is based in Singapore and works across world-wide teams on the product development. Within Asia, she focusses on business customers and partners.

Saranya has spent 19 over years in Microsoft across various roles. She started her career at IDC as Developer, moved on to roles as Developer Advocate, Cloud Solution Architect (CSA), later building 50+ teams of CSA for Asia and customer and partner organization across Asia spanning India, APAC, China/HK, Japan, Korea, Australia and NZ across customers, partners GTM.

Saranya graduated from BITS Pilani, Pilani India with master’s in physics and computer science engineering. She authored a research paper on quantum computing. Saranya spent a year at Insead Business School, Fontainebleau, France in its IT management team managing the Global Leadership program and 360 degrees.

More recently, Saranya has achieved an executive MBA with the Chicago Booth School of Business, and graduated with high honors.

Outside of work, Saranya is a performing Bharatnatyam-Indian classical dancer and actively engages with community to teach both dance and technology and presents in many women in technology-related initiatives.
