AI: AB-731 Exam - Microsoft Certified AI Transformation Leader

I’ve previously written about how I like to always have a certification exam that I’m working on.

Recently, I saw the new AB-731 exam for AI Transformation Leader. It’s the only exam required for the Microsoft Certified: AI Transformation Leader certification.

What interested me is that it was one of the first exams that are now designed to target the business people who are involved in making decisions within an organization. In this case, it’s about deciding how AI might impact the organization, how to plan and carry out the transformation, and which tools to use.

I found it a very easy exam, but I think that’s mostly because I was already very familiar with the options surrounding flavors of Copilot, and with the different service offerings within Microsoft Foundry. While I can’t talk about any specifics on the questions in the exam, there certainly where a lot of questions that told you a situation or requirement, and then asked which tool you should use, or which approach you should take. I think the topics could have been somewhat broader.

The good news is that it was a low cost exam, and all questions used basic structures. There were mostly multiple choice questions, a few with drop-down lists, and some drag and drop questions. Passing mark was 700. But importantly, there was nothing like detailed case studies. I think the exam would be improved if there were case studies, given the purpose of the certification, but that might have raised the required level too high.
